If you're looking for a good time on December 31 head to Jost Van Dyke. Over the years, the celebration of the New Year has increasingly been centered at Foxy's Tamarind Bar. Nowadays, the entire island grows in population from about 200 to over 5000 as revelers pour ashore. Foxy Callwood, the legendary host of Great Harbour, started the tradition of celebrating Olde Year's Night and it's grown to world-famous proportions. Water taxis, private boats and yachts leave Cruz Bay for Jost, delivering villa guests, locals and jet-setters.

From time to time we host birdwatchers who have come to St. John to add species to their "life lists". St. John, protected so well by the Virgin Islands National Park, is a great place to observe birds. This month, like every December, the Audubon Society Christmas Bird Count takes place. Even with the influx of visitors, Trunk Bay was not too crowded the other day when we shot this picture. Rated by National Geographic as one of the 10 top beaches in the world, Trunk Bay is the gem of the Virgin Islands National Park. The Holidays are definitely here! Santa Claus passed out gifts to the kids in Cruz Bay Park the other day. Concert impresario, Steve Simon put on another great Christmas show this past weekend and the lights are up all around town.
